A Note About Plesk
As a management platform, Plesk abstracts many of the interfaces normally exposed to a piece of software installed. For example, the configuration of the web server is provided by Plesk, and the Plesk Premium Email extension hooks back in to Plesk APIs to provide it with information about the configuration the extension needs.
It means that installation of Kolab 16 on Plesk is a lot less involved, but as a separate and distinct product stream, is also licensed (meaning, a license will need to be purchased).
A Note About the Plesk Premium Email Extension
The Plesk Premium Email extension offers an upsell path for Administrators and Resellers, completely integrated with Plesk itself. The extension takes care of all of the boring work, so there’s no need to execute any ‘yum install’ or ‘aptitude install’.
Updates to the extension are also managed through Plesk; when an update is published to the Plesk Extension Catalog, so will the update be available to your installation. On the other hand, the software packages receive continuous updates to fix bugs and enhance functionality, without any extension needing to be updated.
